Milo got dumped over the phone the same day he found out his shop could teleport into the apocalypse. His girlfriend left for a richer guy. His parents' medical debt was still unpaid. And the only thing he had left was a two-hundred-square-foot convenience store that just got swarmed by a horde of zombies the second it materialized in the Wasteland.
The door didn't break. A status screen explained why: Absolute Safety, active. Twelve-hour cooldown until the next shift. Milo looked at his shelves full of instant noodles, bottled water, and sausages — worthless junk back home, worth more than gold out here — and started doing math. One bottle of water for ten grams of gold. One bowl of noodles for a hundred.
Then Nightingale showed up. A fire Awakened powerful enough to torch an entire horde in one move, she slammed straight into his invisible barrier trying to force her way in, then negotiated instead. She paid full price for noodles she could smell through the vent, ate a tossed sausage off the floor because hunger beat her pride, and came back an hour later with two hundred grams of gold just to do it all over again.
Then she offered him something he'd never seen before — a Zombie Crystal Core, the real currency of this world, traded for nothing but a single egg on top of his noodles. Milo had been thinking small the entire time. Gold was never the prize. The Cores were.
Twelve hours. One shop. And a business model nobody in either world saw coming.
