Three songs about the feeling of being free and the quiet suspicion that something else is doing the moving.
"Carried" keeps its hand on one nerve the whole way through: the distance between how much a person feels in control and how little of it they can actually see. It never tries to close that distance. It stays there, warm and unsettled, and lets the discomfort breathe.
Some of the thinking behind it drifted in from the philosophy of Baruch Spinoza. His sense that nothing stands apart from a single moving whole, that the feeling of free choice may be a kind of beautiful blindness, and that real freedom, if there is any, might be nothing more than moving in step with your own nature. The EP does not argue the case. It sits inside the question and leaves it open.
Roots reggae pulled toward dry acoustic folk, a warm organ at the still center, and a wide desert dub that dissolves at the edges.
