The Walk for Peace in Sri Lanka (also known as the Ehipassiko Peace Walk) was a historic 7-day, 225-kilometer spiritual pilgrimage held from April 21–28, 2026. Led by the US-based Theravada monk Most Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra and a delegation of 12 monks, the march promoted national harmony, nonviolence, and mindfulness. Traversing from the ancient city of Anuradhapura down to Independence Square in Colombo, the monks carried sacred relics and a holy Bodhi tree sapling, accompanied along the entire route by Aloka, a famous rescued "peace dog"
