Last Sunday we brought Sun Wukong and Six eared Macauqe to the Cosplay Contest at Gameathlon!
Everything was improvised live on stage (Me and my duo live in different cities). We deliberately used the entire 360° stage. Wukong and Macaque are our favs. We didn't want to capture a fight between two random characters, but the history behind it
Wukong’s armor was built from leather with individually sewn golden metallic plates. Macaque's armor was built with a gambeson that took an absurd amount of searching to find. Everything was handmade. For the stage we had small and giant scrolls painted with ink and handmade clouds scattered across the stage
We watched all five seasons of LEGO Monkie Kid to build this scene around Wukong and Macaque's relationship. I selected dialogue from across the series, rearranged it, constructed the story around a three-act structure, chose the music and edited the entire sequence building towards a climax and resolution that lasts only 90 seconds (rules of the cosplay contest)
