Growing Up Interpreting for Her Deaf Parents | Azima Dhanjee | Asia One News
Growing up as a child of Deaf parents, Azima Dhanjee learned sign language and often interpreted not only for her parents but also for their friends.
At 15, she had the opportunity to study in the United States, where she saw a very different level of accessibility for Deaf people. The experience made her reflect on how much her parents' lives could have been different if such services had been available to them.
Azima shares how her family often had to make difficult choices between attending school and accompanying her parents to appointments.
Her personal experiences would later inspire her work in Deaf inclusion, accessibility and technology through ConnectHear.
