Camino of St Joseph. Sung in Reggae

“Walk with Joseph, walk in faith, Walk with Jesus all the way.” This roots-reggae inspired Catholic song celebrates the Camino of St Joseph in Sydney, an overnight pilgrimage in which more than 1,500 men walked through the city praying the Rosary, carrying a statue of Saint Joseph and offering their journey for their families and intentions. While Friday-night Sydney was filled with neon, nightlife and noise, the early hours of Saturday, 22 August brought a completely different sound: prayer, footsteps and the Rosary. The pilgrimage began at St Patrick’s Church, Church Hill, with Mass and a long period of Confession before the men set out. The route covered more than 20 kilometres and included seven historic churches: ⛪ St Patrick’s, Church Hill ⛪ St Brendan’s, Annandale ⛪ St Joseph’s, Camperdown ⛪ St Benedict’s, Broadway ⛪ St Peter’s, Surry Hills ⛪ St Canice’s, Elizabeth Bay ⛪ St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney The pilgrims included fathers, sons, grandfathers, teenagers, teachers and tradies. Each man carried a different intention—for the sick, for his wife and children, for his family, for conversion, or simply for the grace to become a better man. At the centre of the pilgrimage was Saint Joseph, the earthly protector of the Holy Family and a powerful model of fatherhood, sacrifice, humility and faithful service. The Camino also expressed a deeper hunger for brotherhood and purpose. Men who arrived as strangers found themselves walking as brothers, united by prayer and a desire to grow in holiness. As dawn broke, the procession approached the towers of St Mary’s Cathedral. The weary pilgrims entered for Holy Mass and the Eucharist, bringing the night’s prayers to their destination. This reggae interpretation adds a relaxed roots groove to the story while keeping its central message: Walk with Joseph. Walk with Christ. Carry your family in prayer.
