Record snow drought in winter. Glaciers melting twice as fast. Lakes filling behind walls of loose rock. Then the monsoon — and on 26 August, a mountain in Nepal let go.
This is not one disaster. It's one system, out of balance: too little water when it's needed, too much all at once. And 2 billion people downstream depend on it.
The mountains are warning us. The question is whether we listen in time.
