The story begins in the present day when Chris Quantum faces a tough situation at school. He is asked by his teacher to tutor two of the biggest class clowns, but their endless pranks and constant mocking push him to his limit. Feeling completely frustrated and unappreciated, Chris wants to give up and walk away from doing the right thing.To teach him a valuable lesson about standing up for what is right no matter the cost, Superbook activates and teleports Chris, Joy, and Gizmo to ancient Persia during the 5th century B.C.. The kids find themselves inside the royal palace where a beautiful young Jewish woman named Esther has just been chosen to serve as the queen to King Xerxes.
Chris and Joy witness Queen Esther face a terrifying choice: remain silent to save herself, or risk her own life by approaching the king without being summoned. Encouraged by Mordecai's reminder that she may have been given her royal position "for such a time as this," Esther courageously steps forward. She reveals her identity, exposes Haman's wicked plot during a pair of strategic banquets, and saves her entire population from annihilation. Witnessing Esther's profound bravery gives Chris the exact inspiration he needs to return home, ignore his mockers, and stick to the job he was given.
