Cuba is going through one of the most significant demographic and social transformations in its modern history.
In this documentary, I explore a question that is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore: Is Cuba slowly becoming an empty country?
Over the last several years, hundreds of thousands of Cubans have left the island in search of economic stability, personal freedom, and a better future. At the same time, Cuba is facing a rapidly aging population, a declining birth rate, economic hardship, shortages, and the departure of many young professionals and working-age citizens.
But behind the statistics are real people, families separated across different countries, neighborhoods that have changed dramatically, and an entire generation questioning whether their future is still in Cuba.
As someone originally from Cuba, this story is also personal to me.
This video examines what is happening inside the country, why so many Cubans are leaving, where they are going, and what Cuba could look like if the current demographic trend continues.
This is not simply a story about migration.
It is a story about a country losing part of its population, one family at a time.
