When the Onam sales figures of state public sector undertakings are revealed, anyone would be astonished! The reason is simple: breaking all records once again, BEVCO has secured the top spot this Onam as well.
Do you know how much worth of liquor Malayalis bought through BEVCO outlets in just eight days? A whopping ₹771 crore! On the day of Uthradam (Onam Eve) alone, liquor worth ₹126.31 crore was sold.
However, it wasn't just about drinking; we weren't behind when it came to the Sadya either. Over 53 lakh people relied on Supplyco this time. In 35 days, Supplyco achieved a turnover of over ₹433 crore, with ₹155 crore coming from the sale of subsidized items alone. Milma also achieved astonishing success in milk sales, selling around 1.5 crore liters of milk in just the five days leading up to Onam—a growth of 5.61% compared to last year!
While Handtex made a profit of ₹8 crore in Onakkodi (Onam clothes) sales, the Khadi market faced an unexpected major setback. Sales dropped to just ₹15 crore this time, down from ₹23 crore last year, with delayed shipments from neighboring states being the culprit.
