In the aftermath of Zagato’s defeat, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu expect to finally reunite with Princess Emeraude and restore peace to Cephiro. Instead, they are confronted with a heartbreaking revelation.
They learn that Princess Emeraude, as the Pillar of Cephiro, must devote her entire existence to praying for the world’s stability. However, she had fallen in love with Zagato, making it impossible for her to fulfill her sacred duty. Unable to kill herself due to the Pillar’s power, she summoned the Magic Knights from another world so that they could end her life and free Cephiro from its imbalance.
The devastating truth leaves the girls in shock—they were not summoned to rescue Emeraude, but to kill her.
Overcome with sorrow yet understanding the necessity of their mission, the Magic Knights face Emeraude in battle after she transforms, driven by despair and inner conflict. In an emotionally charged climax, they fulfill the role they never wanted, striking her down to save Cephiro.
With Emeraude’s death, peace is restored—but at great emotional cost. The girls are returned to Tokyo, forever changed by the experience. The episode closes the first major arc of the series on a tragic, bittersweet note, redefining what it truly meant to be “Magic Knights.”
