After escaping the "sole survivor" escape rooms orchestrated by the Minos Corporation, Zoey Davis (Taylor Russell) and Ben Miller (Logan Miller) decide to confront the shadowy organization after finding coordinates to its New York City-based headquarters.
Minos states in an advertisement that since the beginning of civilization there was something captivating about watching humans fight for their lives. In the modern age, Minos provided a front row seat for people who still had a thirst for savagery. Minos' customers are some of the most powerful people on Earth. But every year they demand more. More complicated rooms, more ways to gamble on life and death. Minor claims to provide a platform to fulfill these needs through their "Escape Room".
Zoey is encouraged by her therapist (Lucy Newman-Williams) to move on from her trauma and get over her Aerophobia. Zoey tells her therapist about her fear of flying, as her mother died in a plane crash. The therapist does not believe Zoey and says that she is caught in her game world, where everything is a clue and reinforces her own beliefs, becoming a self-perpetuating loop.
Zoey also told her about how close she got to Amanda and that Amanda had a daughter. Zoey is determined to bring Minor to justice for the crimes they committed in killing the 4 people, but she opts to drive with Ben instead of flying.
The pair find the headquarters derelict, which is weird as Zoey saw satellite photos from just 2 days ago and the place was buzzing with activity, with trucks and workers going in and out. They are accosted by a vagrant (Matt Esof) who steals Zoey's necklace. She and Ben give chase straight into the Q subway train. The vagrant manages to stay outside of the train as the doors close and the train departs the station. The necklace belonged to Zoey's mother.
