Original composition by Scott Sadowsky, from somewhere between 1994 and 1996, and recorded around 1996. This is my attempt at the most traditional of Chilean cuecas, using a 12-string guitar to emulate the 25-string Chilean guitarrón. It's tuned in the old Chilean "tercera alta" tuning.
Most of what I learned about the cueca was thanks to the amazing guitarist, composer and folklore researcher Sergio Sauvalle Echavarría, who I all-too-briefly studied with, and who let me sneak into his music classes at the UMCE university in Santiago, where I met some amazing young musicians and composers are really started to develop my own composing and arranging skills.
Recorded with an old Ross 4x4 cassette multi-track recorder and one of the cheapest mics on the market, straight from the now-defunct Radio Shack.
Scott Sadowsky: Music, recording, mixing. Two 12-string guitars.
