Dui Prithibi (Bengali: দুই পৃথিবী; English: Two Worlds) is a 2010 Bengali-language road drama film directed by Raj Chakraborty. The film stars Jeet, Dev, Koel Mallick, and Barkha Bisht Sengupta in pivotal roles. It was the highest-grossing Bengali film of 2010 and marked the first on-screen collaboration between Bengali cinema's leading actors Jeet and Dev. The movie is a remake of the 2008 Telugu film Gamyam .
Plot Summary
Rahul Roy (Jeet) is the affluent and carefree son of a wealthy businessman, leading a life of luxury and indulgence. His world takes a turn when he meets Nandini Sen (Koel Mallick), a compassionate doctor dedicated to serving the underprivileged. Initially, Rahul approaches Nandini as part of a bet to win her affection, but he soon finds himself genuinely falling for her. Upon discovering Rahul's initial intentions, Nandini distances herself, leading to a tragic accident that results in a woman's death and leaves Rahul injured.
Determined to find Nandini and seek redemption, Rahul embarks on a transformative journey across rural Bengal on his motorcycle. Along the way, he encounters Shibu (Dev), a spirited bike thief who becomes his travel companion. Their journey exposes Rahul to the stark realities of rural life, introducing him to various individuals, including a dedicated teacher, a pregnant woman in distress, and an ex-militant named Binoy. These experiences profoundly impact Rahul, leading to personal growth and self-discovery.
The narrative reaches a climax when Rahul and Shibu are caught in a crossfire between Naxalites and the police. Shibu sacrifices his life to save Rahul, leaving a lasting impression
