Plot Summary:
Ash, Misty, and Brock visit Granny Canyon, where a large excavation is taking place to uncover prehistoric Pokémon fossils. Excited by the discovery, Ash and his friends join the dig. However, Team Rocket tries to plant explosives to speed up their own search, causing a massive cave-in that traps Ash, Pikachu, and Team Rocket underground.
While exploring the dark tunnels, they come face-to-face with real, living prehistoric Pokémon—Kabuto, Kabutops, Omanyte, Omastar, and Aerodactyl—who had been hiding deep within the earth. The Pokémon attack, and Ash is soon grabbed by Aerodactyl, who flies away with him.
To rescue Ash, Charmeleon evolves into Charizard and chases Aerodactyl through the sky. The battle is intense, but before Charizard can strike, Jigglypuff appears and starts singing, putting everyone—including Aerodactyl—to sleep. Aerodactyl drops Ash safely, and the prehistoric Pokémon disappear back underground before anyone else can see them.
In the end, Ash is safe, and Charizard is now a powerful new addition to his team, but Aerodactyl’s existence remains a mystery to the rest of the world.
