In Indian mythology, Sita is the devoted wife of the god Rama whom she is accused of cheating on with the demon Ravana and is repudiated. As the unconditional lover that she is, Sita will do anything to prove her devotion to Rama. When director Nina Paley discovered this story, she couldn't help but draw parallels with her own love life and created the film "Sita Sings the Blues" which mixes mythology and autobiography
