The story involves Peter's grandfather scolding him for being outside, warning of the dangers of the wolf nearby. The wolf does appear, and through a series of events between his grandfather and his animal friends, they trap the villainous wolf and learn lessons along the way (only after the poor duck becomes a meal for the wolf). Despite the hardship of losing his feathered friend, Peter and his troops throw a victory parade to march the wolf to the zoo and live happily ever after.
