Most farmers in a drought-ridden village have sold their lands to pursue other means of income, and there has been no harvest for many years. A series of unfortunate events force the villagers to conduct a traditional ritual to the village deity, with paddy from the first harvest of the season. to be cooked in a freshly made mud pot. They seek the help of Maayandi, the only farmer in that village, who has been diligently tending to his piece of ancestral land. A wrong accusation puts Maayandi on a criminal trial for poaching.
