Di tahun Era Kosmik 0071, koloni luar angkasa Heliopolis tetap netral dalam perang besar yang berkecamuk di galaksi antara Koordinator, manusia yang sifat biologisnya telah diubah sebelum lahir, dan Naturals, orang-orang yang tidak berubah yang tetap berada di planet Bumi. Kebencian mendalam Naturals terhadap Koordinator mendorong makhluk maju ke luar angkasa, mencari perlindungan di koloni buatan manusia.
