More than a century after the last major addition to India's known Eristalinus hoverflies, researchers have described two new species from West Bengal. They are named Eristalinus sapphirinus and Eristalinus brunettii. Researchers used physical characteristics and DNA barcode data to confirm that they are distinct species.
