Cue 14 - "Message in a Box" (Score of aborted independent Colombian film)

Cue from the score of an aborted independent Colombian film. Composed, arranged, performed, mixed and mastered by Scott Sadowsky. Our protagonist is rummaging through an old box in her bedroom and finds a drawing she made as a child. In it, she is holding hands with an ominous red figure that she labeled her "best friend forever" in her child's handwriting. The astute observer will note that this is the same figure we saw clapping in the opening scene, when the protagonist was a young adult. Who or what is this figure? Is it a product of psychosis, a distortion of reality, or something else entirely? The cue for this scene, in 6/8, is a variation on the melody used in the first scene that the red figure appears in, but here the ambience and the protagonist's state of mind are completely different. Instead of the violent disorientation of the earlier scene, depicted by an aggressive, grinding cello, here the mood is one of disquiet, foreboding and mystery. Clearly, this drawing is bringing to the surface something long repressed. _____ Tema del score musical de una película independiente colombiana que no prosperó. Nuestra protagonista está hurgueteando en una vieja caja de cartón en su pieza y encuentra un dibujo que hizo cuando niña. En él, está tomándole la mano a una ominosa figura roja a la que etiquetó como su "mejor amiga para siempre" con su letra infantil. El observador astuto notará que se trata de la misma figura que vimos aplaudiendo en la escena de apertura, cuando la protagonista ya era una joven adulta. ¿Quién o qué es esta figura? ¿Es producto de una psicosis, es una distorsión de la realidad, o es algo completamente distinto? _____ Copyright (c) 2025 by Scott Sadowsky.
