In the final year of primary school, we observe the perspective of a class pet. Leo, a world-weary 74-year-old lizard, has spent countless decades confined to the same Florida classroom alongside his turtle companion. Faced with the realization that he has only one year left to live, Leo hatches a plan to break free and explore the world beyond the classroom walls. However, his escape plans take an unexpected turn when he becomes entangled in the complex issues and challenges faced by his anxious human students, including the enigma of an exceptionally unkind classmate.
