Martin Brudermüller has been CEO of BASF SE, the world’s largest chemical company with 111,000 employees and revenues of almost 90 billion Euros, since 2018 and is the incoming Chairman of Mercedes-Benz. Dr. Brudermüller is widely viewed as one of the best and most important top managers in Germany.
Before becoming CEO, Dr. Brudermüller was a member of the management board of BASF AG for five years and was responsible for the Asia-Pacific region before becoming Deputy CEO and CTO of the firm. Prior to that, he held various positions at BASF in Ludwigshafen and Italy.
Mr. Brudermüller also serves on the Supervisory Board of Mercedes-Benz, as President of the European Chemical Industry Council Cefic, and as Vice President of the German Chemical Industry Association, and is a member of the Executive Committee of the BDI, the Senate of the Max Planck Society, and acatech – the German Academy of Science and Engineering.
Dr. Brudermüller studied chemistry at the University of Karlsruhe, where he received his diploma. After completing his doctoral degree in Karlsruhe, he spent time as a post-doctoral scholar at Berkeley.
