Miami-Dade, Florida β On November 3rd, 2025, just before 9 p.m., Miami-Dade Sheriff's dispatch notified deputies of a carjacking in the 27900 block of SW 127th Avenue near Homestead. A woman was sitting in her black Tahoe when three armed, masked suspects approached her vehicle. The victim ran to a nearby business, and the three carjackers fled the scene in her vehicle. Deputies from the South District Crime Suppression Team and the Special Enforcement Team located the stolen Tahoe near se 25 Avenue and se 28 Drive, a residential area in Homestead. When deputies closed in on the carjacked Tahoe, the three suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. During the foot pursuit, 18-year-old Stephan Jones pointed an assault rifle toward deputy #1, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.
The deputy called for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel to be dispatched to the scene. Deputies provided Jones with medical aid, including the application of a tourniquet, until their arrival. Body-worn camera video shows Jones' assault rifle on the ground next to where he was apprehended. Jones was transported to a hospital in stable condition. The two remaining suspects, 18-year-old Tyquawn Davis and a 16-year-old juvenile, were arrested nearby. Jones's assault rifle and Davis's handgun were recovered near where they were detained. Stephan Jones was charged with the following: aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, improper exhibition of a firearm, resisting an officer without violence. Tyquawn Davis was charged with armed carjacking and resisting an officer without violence. The juvenile was charged with resisting an officer without violence. No deputies or uninvolved community members were injured during this incident.
