U.S. forces have launched an attack on Iran's Larak Island in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The United States took action on Sunday against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which was setting up rocket launchers with the aim of deploying sea mines in the strait. U.S. officials, cited by Reuters, reported that the strike destroyed two Iranian launch systems, marking the first U.S. attack on Iranian soil since late July. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed that the attack took place on Larak Island. Stating that military personnel and civilians were killed and injured, Iran warned that it would deliver a deserving punishment and a heavy retaliation for the U.S. action. Larak Island is located 1,100 kilometers southeast of the Iranian capital, Tehran, south of Hormuz Island and east of Qeshm Island.
