“The Wild Heart of Karamay” is the third chapter of Jiang Xiaomo's Xinjiang tetralogy—a narrative folk song rooted in the stark terrain of Karamay, where Yardang landforms and the petroleum industry share the same horizon. Through the eyes of two wanderers, “Jiang Xiaomo” and “Slippery,” the song moves between the wind-carved rock formations of Ghost City and the steel frames of oil wells, opening a dialogue on time, memory, and untamed nature at the meeting point of ancient geological silence and the roar of modern industry.
