In 1985 after being ousted from Apple, Steve Jobs formed NeXT, Inc. The company built high-end Workstation PC's and NeXTSTEP, a software platform. NeXT's influence from 1985 to 1997 came from the World Wide Web being created on a NeXT computer, to its OS becoming how macOS, iOS, IPadOS, watchOS, tvOS and others. Apple purchased NeXT in 1996, and with Steve Jobs returning to the company he founded (Apple), all of NeXT becomes what we now call macOS, iOS, IPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and others.
