Threads of Fate: A War Untold  (Chinese: 山海经密码; pinyin: Shānhǎijīng Mìmǎ) is a 2026 Chinese fantasy anime (donghua) series produced by YOUKU Animation. The series premiered on December 27, 2025, and is currently releasing new episodes weekly in early 2026.  Plot & Setting Historical Fantasy: Set during a transitional period of ancient Chinese history, it follows the grand war between the Xia and Shang dynasties. Storyline: The plot centers on Youshen Bupo, the noble heir of Shang, and Jiang Li, a disciple of the Taiyi Sect. After Bupo rescues Jiang Li, the two embark on an adventure across a wilderness filled with mythical creatures, heavenly tribulations, and fierce beasts. Themes: Adapted from a novel based on the Classic of Mountains and Seas and historical records, the story explores the inevitable conflict between the two protagonists, who are destined to go from close friends to arch-enemies as princes of opposing dynasties.
