Compilation of 'Evil Chinese' Stereotypes in Serials, 1920s - Archive Film 10620

Pearl and white man in bad Oriental costume face one another in a gaudily decorated room. Pearl tries to rescue a statue from his mantelpiece. Fake Chinaman opens a trapdoor and Pearl is left hanging from the mantelpiece by her fingers. Cut to a different "evil Chinese" film. Stan Laurel as a Peking Policeman is threatened with a knife by a Chinese baddie. Stan loses his helmet in fear ("He's got a paralysed pigtail"). Laurel rescues his hat and backs away from the Chinese man. Chinaman attacks. Laurel smacks him on the bum with his truncheon. Laurel runs away down a side road. Chinaman waits for him at the top and attacks him with the knife several times to no avail. Chinaman hits a different policeman and runs away.
