“Why Do Foxes Own the Weather?”

In Japan, a sun shower is a fox’s wedding. In Korea, it’s fox rain, or the tiger’s wedding day. In Portuguese, it’s also a fox’s wedding. In Hindi, a jackal’s. This episode follows three folk forecasts: the sun shower, the night lights called fox-fire, and a lady whose body glows. It compares what people saw, the folk reading, and the natural reading, and asks why so many languages answer odd weather with a wedding of animals. Episode 19 of an animated series exploring East Asian fox legends, with the sources checked.
