Fate/Zero's Kariya Fought Tokiomi, Not the Man Hurting Sakura

0 View6 days ago

Kariya let the worms in to save Sakura, then spent the whole Fate/Zero war hunting her father instead of the man keeping her in the pit. Judge him by his targets, not his speeches. Kariya Matou is one of the most pitied characters in Fate/Zero, Gen Urobuchi's prequel to Fate/stay night, animated by ufotable and directed by Ei Aoki, because he took a year of Crest Worms and a month to live to free Sakura from Zouken Matou. This video judges him by his targets instead of his speeches: Berserker sent at Tokiomi Tohsaka's Archer in episode five, the rooftop during the Mion River battle in episode fourteen, the fire in episode fifteen, and the only two times he names Zouken as a man to kill, both right after Tokiomi. The steelman gets its full say, from the worms inside Kariya to Tokiomi calling the Matou request a blessing from heaven. Then the hinge in episode twenty one: Kirei Kotomine offers Kariya the Holy Grail, and Kariya asks for Tokiomi first, a man Kirei had already killed. It ends in the church with Aoi Tohsaka, with Gilgamesh calling it cheap drama, with Berserker revealed as Lancelot, the knight who loved his king's wife, and with Kariya's dying dream, where one of the girls calls him Daddy Kariya and the real Sakura watches.
