O MIA VITA – to celebrate the 80th birthday of René Jacobs

frabernardo.com Celebrating the 80th birthday of René Jacobs’, this album recalls the beginning of the Belgian star's career. Internationally extremely successful as a conductor for decades, the celebrated countertenor René Jacobs was almost forgotten. This is a pity because Jacobs set standards with his singing that could be a model for those who struggle with the art of singing, especially today. Text declamation, drawing from it tempo and phrasing, feeling for _musical flow are characteristics of René's art. These qualities, which only a few of his genre can call their own, are documented in many records, but are also particularly audible in this live recording of a concert from Innsbruck in 1980. Together with famous names of the early music scene, René Jacobs takes up the cudgels for Antonio Cesti, whose operas once caused a sensation in Innsbruck, Vienna and Venice.
