Rokurokubi: The Yokai With a Stretching Neck

A woman lies asleep in a quiet room. Her body doesn't move. Her neck doesn't stay still. Rokurokubi (ろくろ首) is a yokai from Japanese folklore — a person who appears human by day, but whose neck stretches unnaturally at night while they sleep, letting their head wander the house or spy on others. Some legends say it happens without the person's knowledge; others say it's a curse for a past sin. This is a short adaptation of the legend, part of an ongoing series exploring Japanese horror myths and legends.
