Should you remove your mudflaps to reduce fuel consumption? To find out, we simulated the Toyota Hilux with mud guards and without to see how the drag coefficient, and fuel consumption were affected.
Using identical simulation conditions, we compare at different:
Velocity, pressure, and streamline behavior
Where lift is generated
Where drag is produced
Where the noise is produced
Want your own car simulated?
I also offer custom CFD simulations for vehicles and aerodynamic concepts.

Want to learn how to do simulations like this?
These simulations were run using OpenFOAM.
If you want to learn the fundamentals of OpenFOAM โ and how to apply them to real engineering problems โ check out my course here:

Details about simulation: MRFs for the wheels, model is as accurate as we can get. Meant for general entertainment.
