Khezu never carted me.
I simply wasn't damaging him enough.
Twenty years later, I still remember my first failed quest in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Not because Khezu was the strongest monster I ever faced, but because he was the first monster that forced me to stop playing the game and start learning it.
From spending twenty minutes searching for him, to discovering Long Sword and Great Sword, learning capture signs, understanding monster behavior, and finding out that the camp bed could save a failing hunt, Khezu became the foundation of everything that came after.
Tigrex taught me respect.
Gypceros taught me humility.
Rajang taught me discipline.
But before any of those lessons, there was Khezu.
A blind, screaming, electrified chicken that spent fifty minutes teaching me how to become a hunter.
