Cue from the score of an aborted Colombian film, "El amarre". Composed, arranged, performed, mixed and mastered by Scott Sadowsky. This cue goes with the title card of the fourth and final chapter of the film, sandwiched between two death scenes. Not an easy place to say something musically! As the following scene will fill the attentive viewer with confusion as to what's really going on in the movie, I opted to go for a disconcerting feeling, along with scary and menacing. The hard staccato notes played by contrabass follow no discernable rhythmic pattern. No set of time signatures can capture what they're doing, and some of the notes fall slightly before or after any potential beat the listener might think they've figured out. This provides the disconcerting feeling. The strings and horns combo plays a series of melodies and harmonies that sound epic, highlighting the fact that important events are transpiring. The orchestral chord swells provide some much-needed menace, since we're dealing with murder on both sides of this cue. The screechy cluster swells scare me, and hopefully they have that effect in the viewer, too. The long, downward strings slide aims to evoke a sinking feeling, a sensation of foreboding and doom. All of this is topped off by a timpani roll to give the end of the cue the oomph it needs. _____ Tema del score de una película colombiana que no prosperó, "El amarre".
