Cue from the score of an aborted independent Colombian film. Composed, arranged, performed, mixed and mastered by Scott Sadowsky. The first movement consists of a slow cello arpeggio which is later joined by a second cello and a contrabass drone. Our protagonist receives an unexpected phone call from her long-estranged mother who says she is dying, and there's something she needs to confess -- she was not only aware of the abuse alluded to in Cues 7, 8 and 9, she was actively complicit in it. After sitting in stunned silence for a long while, our protagonist simply hangs up. The second movement begins with a brass stab and several simultaneous percussion hits that are synced precisely with the bang of the telephone as our protagonist hangs up in disbelief. Her inner instability and the brewing psychological storm within are expressed musically. The scene slowly builds up to an explosion. The third movement depicts our protagonist increasingly losing control of herself as she processes the unthinkable. The cue maintains the unstable rhythm while speeding up significantly. An urgent sense of forward movement is created by various instruments. In the fourth movement, our protagonist finally breaks down and starts sobbing in earnest. Most of the instruments play less frantically here, giving space to the weeping.The fifth movement is a brief transition where all grows almost imperceptibly quiet and then crescendos powerfully as the full weight of her mother's revelation hits our protagonist. She grasps her head and weeps as chaotic horn chatter expresses her inner turmoil.Finally, the sixth movement shows her fully on board the express train to emotional hell. Speed and dissonance are created by a series of fast arpeggios.
