Review and Smoking a Kent Classic King Cigarette, which is the "Full-Flavored" variety of the brand still on sale within the United States. Kent is an American nameplate that was first introduced in 1952 by the Lorillard Tobacco Company as a "healthy filtered alternative" to more traditional unfiltered cigarettes. Due to the public becoming more and more aware of the health effects of smoking during this era, this marketing ploy paid off, to an extreme degree, and skyrocketed the brand into becoming one of the most popular of the 1950's and 1960's. However, of course, they did include Asbestos in the filters from 1952 to 1956, so the health aspect is completely bogus. Starting in the late 1960's, the brand started to decline, and by the 1980's, it had fallen out of the top ten in the USA. Today, Kent is a much more rare item to find than not within the United States, but is still produced by RJ Reynolds, who purchased Lorillard in 2014. Outside of the USA, it’s a much larger nameplate than not, and is owned by British American Tobacco, and was especially popular in Romania for some time, which is quite amusing.
