Minecraft original painting reveal 3/25: "Alban"

Made in my second year at the Royal Academy, 1997. I had a period when I experimineted with only focusing on the colour in my painting, trying not to mind the subject matter at all - and allowing myself to paint in a more naivistic and playful manner. Many of these images were intentionally "badly" painted, perhaps partly as a somewhat childish protest against the prevailing intellectual theories at the school at the time. Anyway, I tried not to censor myself even if the results turned out a bit silly, as in this case. Still, I kind of like it. It's a "fantasy" painting as I recall, as in there were no references other than my confused brain - and I vaguely remember thinking it was a fellow in a landscape in Albania, hence the name - "Alban".
