My younger sister is pregnant with the Third Prince's child, but she is not yet married. To get what she wants, she cries, makes a scene, and threatens suicide. She even kneels, begging to use our grandfather's founding功勋 (meritorious service) to secure a marriage decree. Threatening to take her own life, she forces our father to give her more than half of the family's assets as a dowry. Later, the Third Prince ascends the throne, but my sister is not the Empress. This is because the new Emperor declared, 'Too strong an external power (relatives of the Empress) would destabilize the empire.'
