Eight samurai serve the Satomi clan in Kyokutei Bakin's classic Japanese epic novel Nansou Satomi Hakkenden during the turbulent Sengoku (Warring States) era of Japan. The souls that Princess Fuse mothered with a dog named Yatsufusa are reborn as the Edo-era samurai. The female hunter Hamaji visits her brother in Fuse Gansaku: Satomi Hakkenden to hunt Fuse. Thus, the long-running karmic cycle of vengeance that started with the Satomi family restarts.
