Masanosuke "Masa" Akitsu is a lost ronin in the tranquil Edo era of Japan. Masa is a superb swordsman, but his timid nature has earned him the title of "unreliable," and he is frequently fired without warning by his employers, which causes him to doubt his commitment as a samurai. When Masa is at his lowest, Yaichi, a carefree man dressed in pink, approaches him and appears to employ him as his bodyguard on a whim.
