Everyone says the first movie was made in 1895. They're wrong. 🎬
In October 1888, French inventor Louis Le Prince filmed his family in a garden in Roundhay, England — two seconds of footage that is the oldest surviving movie on Earth. Then he vanished without a trace. Seven years later, the Lumière brothers held the first public cinema screening in Paris, on 28 December 1895.
📌 A note on history: the earliest surviving motion-picture footage is Louis Le Prince's "Roundhay Garden Scene" (1888, England). This video also tells the story of the first public projected cinema screening — Paris, 28 December 1895.
