Google DeepMind gave early access to Genie 4 — a model that builds a playable world from one sentence, on the fly. Here's what the first testers made:
• a walk through San Francisco — one sentence, and Godzilla with an atomic beam walks into town;
• Tokyo in the 80s: the chef behind the counter talks to you and serves ramen;
• storming a castle on the back of a dragon, first-person;
• Tim from Theoretically Media wanted a simple drive — and accidentally got a police chase;
• he asked for Doom — and got a shooter full of demons;
• aliens attacking Times Square — and you fight back.
Downsides: details drift if you look for long, and access is testers-only for now (waitlist for everyone else).
My forecast: in 3–5 years, worlds like these will take one evening to build — for games and for movies.
