A mysterious drifter arrives by train in a quiet, unassuming town with plans to rob the local bank, expecting a clean and simple job. But when a retired poetry professor offers him a place to stay after the town’s only hotel is found closed, an unexpected friendship begins to blossom. As the days pass and conversations deepen, the two men—one a criminal on the run, the other a man of words and reflection—find themselves drawn to each other’s vastly different lives, each quietly yearning for the freedom the other seems to possess.
