LOS SIETE PECADOS CAPITALES — Parte 6/7: ENVIDIA | Argentine Patagonian Folk — NESTORIUS
From Patagonia, Argentina.
Envidia is the sixth movement of Los siete pecados capitales, a seven-song conceptual work exploring the human emotions hidden beneath the seven deadly sins.
Envy is not only wanting what another person has.
Sometimes it becomes something darker:
wanting the other person to lose it.
“Your sadness did not improve my life.
Your fall did not make me taller.”
Envidia is rooted in Argentine Patagonian folk music, with the intimate and melancholic character of a traditional tonada.
It is a song about comparison, resentment and finally understanding that another person's light does not diminish our own.
