π Submerged Wat Ban Kao, Thailand πΉπ
In 1955, the construction of Bhumibol Dam flooded the ancient Wat Ban Kao temple, leaving it beneath the reservoir in Mae Ping National Park. For most of the year, almost nothing can be seen above the water.
π€― But when the water level drops dramatically, the temple returns from the past. Ancient brick walls, the chedi and other remains emerge from the reservoir, accompanied by a huge rain tree.
π³ The tree makes the scene even more extraordinary. It survived on the old settlement site and now appears to stand guard over the ruins rising from the water.
