On stage nine he crashed at 165 km/h: one month in hospital and two months of memory he has never recovered. He went back two years later. Racing the Dakar properly costs around 200.000 euros. He funded it with a crowdfunding campaign of more than a thousand people who paid to follow him from the inside.
