Would you believe a lake exists where animals turn to stone the moment they touch the water? ๐ฑ
This is Lake Natron in Tanzania, East Africa. The water is so toxic and alkaline (pH 10.5) that it looks blood red due to cyanobacteria. The soda and salt concentration is so high that no creature can survive.
Photographers have found birds that fell while flying and turned into stone statues on the shore. Yet, flamingos still come here to breed! This is nature's most terrifying wonder.
