“Two Crowns” tells the extraordinary story of **Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe**, the Polish Franciscan priest and martyr whose life became a powerful witness to the triumph of love over hatred.
As a young boy, Raymond Kolbe prayed to the Blessed Virgin Mary, asking what kind of man he would become. According to the traditional account, Mary appeared to him holding two crowns: a **white crown representing purity** and a **red crown representing martyrdom**.
When Mary asked whether he would accept them, the young Raymond gave his unforgettable answer:
**“I choose both.”**
That choice would shape his entire life.
Father Kolbe dedicated himself to Christ and the Immaculate Virgin Mary, founded the **Militia of the Immaculata**, established Niepokalanów in Poland, and carried his missionary zeal as far as Japan.
But his greatest act of love came at **Auschwitz** in 1941. When a fellow prisoner was selected for death and cried out for his wife and children, Kolbe stepped forward and offered to die in his place.
In the starvation bunker, rather than surrendering to despair, Kolbe and the other condemned prisoners were heard praying and singing hymns. He was eventually killed by a lethal injection on **August 14, 1941**.
His martyrdom became a profound sign that **love is stronger than hatred and self-giving stronger than violence**.
🎵 May this song remind us of the two crowns:
**the white crown of purity and the red crown of sacrifice.**
🙏 **Saint Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us.**
🙏 **Mary Immaculate, lead us to Christ.**
